Oregon Restraining Orders
In Oregon, you can request a restraining order against a family member, household member, or someone with whom you have had a sexual relationship who has abused or threatened to abuse you or your children within the last 180 days. Abusers have:
- Physically hurt you or attempted to physically hurt you
- Made you afraid that he or she would soon physically hurt you
- Made you have sexual relations against your wishes by using force or threats of force
- Made it clear you continue to be in danger of further abuse
In order to file a restraining order, you’ll need to identify yourself and the abuser, give police an address at which to serve the order, and a contact address for you. If you wish to keep your address confidential, you may use our office location as your contact address and we will intercept any communications from an abuser or their friends.
You Don’t Have to Face This Alone
It can be difficult to go through the arduous process of filing for and defending a restraining order. You must recall everything that has happened and face your abuser in court. We understand how stressful this prospect is, which is why many people suffer silently through abuse, hoping it will resolve itself. Though this makes sense, you deserve better. Let us represent you and your right to privacy and peace.
