A Brief History
One of 36 counties, it was the 13th one to be designated in Oregon. It was created in 1854 as a remedy. Business owners were irritated that a majority of the tax revenue being generated in Portland was going to Hillsboro and Washington County projects that didn’t benefit the urban center of the state.
